One of the highly anticipated matches set to take place this Saturday night pits the winner of the 2007 Twist of Fate tournament "The Soviet Shooter" Nikita Allanov against "Lightning" Tim Lutz in a no disqualification match! But this is no grudge match; things have been heating up between these two men since early December!
It was December 2nd when Allanov joined forces with Brad Callaway and Mitch Gibson to take on Lutz, Dewey Brown, and Nick LeBeau. During the course of the match, Allanov focused his aggression on LTL, and the two brawled out to the floor and into the men's restroom. Lutz challenged Allanov to a match on December 9th, but the "Soviet Shooter" had other plans, instead sending in a video challenging Lutz to a match on his terms and his timing - namely January 4 at "A Snowball's Chance..." When Lutz and Allanov finally met one on one, they battled each other for a solid 15 minutes before the time limit expired on the match. Commissioner Nate Pelley quickly signed a rematch between the two to take place in the opening round of the Twist of Fate tournament.
This time, Allanov jump-started things before the bell even rang, brutally attacking LTL with his trusty Russian chain. By the time the match officially began, Lutz was hurt, but he wouldn't give up. After mounting an amazing comeback, LTL focused in on the object that had left him beaten and sore - the chain. Tim grabbed the weapon and brutally assaulted Allanov with it. Unfortunately, this was in the middle of the match and Lutz was disqualified for his actions.
Allanov went on to win the Twist of Fate tournament, and in a true "twist of fate" ended up slated to face new Heavyweight champion "The Real Deal" Dameon Steal. Steal, it should be noted, is the mentor of Tim Lutz; the man Lutz credits with training him as a professional wrestler. Steal suffered a broken neck two years ago and has not been able to make a full time return to the ring since. But, in an impromptu challenge, Steal defeated Brad Callaway to become the NEW Heavyweight champion. Allanov, who as the winner of the Twist of Fate tournament secured himself the number one contender status for the NEW title, had a face to face confrontation with Steal, who appeared to be simply sizing up his competition. Then, tragedy struck. Allanov brutally attacked Steal, reinjuring his neck with a vicious Russian sickle. Dameon had to be taken from the arena on a stretcher, leaving his status, and the status of the NEW Heavyweight title, in much question. For his unprovoked attacked, Allanov was suspended for the February 3rd show by Commissioner Pelley. But on that night, Tim Lutz unleashed the most emotional interview he's ever given, vowing to avenge his fallen mentor by any means necessary. Now, the suspension has been lifted and the match has been signed - Nikita Allanov against Tim Lutz, no disqualifications!
LTL fans, you won't want to miss this one!
